Cisco Networking Academy Recognizes UB-SIT Student forScoring Bronze in APJC Cisco NetAcad Riders 2024

Ron Leo Manangan, a third-year BSCpE student from the University of Baguio- School of Information Technology (UB-SIT), was awarded a Bronze Certificate in the Asia Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC) NetAcad Riders competition on March 26, 2024. He attended the event along with his teammates, Mark Anthon Argel, Jasper Asmin, Christian Russel Castelltort, Mclin Molina, Angelica Pangilinan, Yvan Lexcel Oliveros and Genesis Velasco. Ron Manangan’s victory gained well-deserved pride and recognition for his skills and the abilities of his companions.


The Cisco Networking Academy organized the APJC NetAcad Riders competition. This exciting event aims to conduct an interactive networking skill contest to enrich classroom learning experiences, encourage collaboration among students from various regions, and promote ongoing technology education and training initiatives.

Mr. Suthinee Leelahemaratana, a program manager at Cisco Systems Thailand, is one of the competition’s organizers, and the event was conducted online via Webex conference and Cisco NetAcad. Participants, including Manangan, received instructions and materials via email. The competition requires students to join the APJC NetAcad Riders course in Cisco NetAcad to accomplish requirements such as practicing how to answer questions.

The certificate presented to Mr. Manangan for his excellent performance.

The competition was scheduled to start at 10:30 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM; the competition comprised 75 multiple-choice questions to be answered within 90 minutes. Manangan revealed that although they didn’t proceed to round 2, the top 3 participants from each country would advance, with gold, silver, and bronze certificates awarded to the top 5%, 10%, and 15% scorers, respectively.

Manangan’s success exemplifies the school’s dedication to the university’s vision, nurturing a culture of excellence and preparing students for the demands of today’s technology-driven world.
