A Spectacular Journey in ‘Byte Back To The Future in SIT Day and Night 2023’.
The School of Information Technology (SIT) carried out an event that had been eagerly anticipated for three long years – the SIT Day and Night, with the captivating theme, “Byte Back To The Future: SIT Rewind 2023” on September 25th, 2023. Organized by the SIT Student Administration Committee, led by Ms. Kristal Marcelo, the SB adviser of SIT, and the newly elected SB officers, including Mr. Caesar Klidge Galutera as the SB governor and Mr. Christian Junio as UB Senator.
The SIT Day and Night maintained a unique place in SIT students’ hearts since it brought them together after a stressful week of exams. Traditional activities such as stop dance, newspaper dance, bring me, and pop the balloon were played throughout the day, creating a nostalgic return to simpler times. Laughter and friendliness filled the air as students from all programs participated passionately in these cherished activities.
The excitement continued in the afternoon with the “SIT Got Talent” competition, which featured ten exceptional individuals who captivated the audience with their singing, dancing, guitar playing styles, and other astounding talents. The performances showcased the different skills of the SIT students, and the audience applauded in support of their peers.
The cosplay competition, which added a touch of fantasy and inventiveness to the event, comprised eight entrants who portrayed characters from other universes. Each cosplayer transported the audience to diverse realms, displaying their passion for the craft. From the legendary SpongeBob SquarePants and Spider-Man to characters from the fascinating realms of Genshin Impact, Attack on Titan, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, and others, each cosplayer transported the audience to intriguing imaginary worlds while demonstrating their passion and expertise.
Notably, the event was only possible with the sponsorship of A-cube Studio, an Olongapo-based company that creates 3D models for cosplayers. A-cube Studio contributed to the event’s success by presenting artwork and providing students with fascinating puzzles. Attendees may get personalized 3D model keychains and learn about 3D printing services to bring their unique designs to life.
The attendees’ excitement and passion were evident throughout the session. It was a memorable day, from the morning’s traditional sports with a twist to the fascinating abilities exhibited during SIT Got Talent and the enchanting world of cosplay. The unique “Bring Me” game and the “hep-hep hooray” game had the audience in stitches and clapping.
Finally, the SIT Day and Night 2023 was a huge success, bringing students from all walks of life together to celebrate their mutual enthusiasm for information technology and creativity. The event not only showed the talent of the SIT students but also the strong backing from sponsors such as A-cube Studio. As the day turned to night, it was clear that those who participated would fondly remember the attitude of unity and pleasure. “Byte Back To The Future” was more than just a theme; it reminded us that the SIT students are always eager to embrace the future while cherishing the traditions that make their journey distinct and memorable.
