Global Youth Summit 2023: Empowering the Youth to Lead Change

On September 2, 2023, the Global Youth Summit (GYS) was held at SM City Baguio, Philippines. The event, organized by the Global Peace Foundation, was attended by over 500 young people nationwide.

Within this, one of the young leaders from the School of Information of Technology joined the summit, making a big contribution and bringing enlightenment to the department, encouraging the students to explore innovative solutions to societal challenges, and fostering a spirit of collaboration and empowerment in line with the values promoted by the GYS.

The GYS is a platform for young people to learn about and discuss global issues and develop the skills and knowledge they need to lead change in their communities and beyond. The theme of the 2023 GYS was “Empowering the Youth to Lead Change.”

The GYS featured various speakers and workshops on leadership, social entrepreneurship, and global citizenship. Attendees also could network with other young people from all over the country.

One of the highlights of the GYS was a keynote address by Award-winning Journalist Howie Severino.

In his speech, Mr. Severino encouraged young people to get involved in their communities and to make a difference in the world. He said, “You are the future of our country and the world. You have the power to make a difference. Don’t be afraid to use your voice and to take action.”

Another highlight of the GYS was a workshop on social entrepreneurship led by the Regional President of the Global Peace Foundation, Ingill Ra. In the workshop, Mr. Ra taught attendees how to start and grow social enterprises that can positively impact the world.

The GYS was a success, and it was an excellent opportunity for young people to learn about and discuss global issues and develop the skills and knowledge they need to lead change in their communities and beyond. The Global Peace Foundation is committed to supporting young people and empowering them to make a difference.
