The School of Information Technology of the University of Baguio partnered with Yield Guild Games Pilipinas for a nationwide event aimed at introducing web3 gaming experiences to Filipinos.
In a bid to bring the latest in gaming technology to the Filipino masses, the UB School of Information Technology collaborated with YGG Pilipinas for the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip 2024 in Baguio. The event was held at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Camp John Hay last April 27, showcasing a variety of web3 gaming booths and providing an immersive experience for both traditional web2 games and those familiar with blockchain technology.
Joniel Bon, the Founder of NFTXSTREET WEB3 GAMING COMMUNITY, shared his insights into the significance of the event. “We held YGG events twice already here in Baguio. The first one was in SM last 2022, so this is our second time. First and foremost, we want to see the community not only online but also in real-life events, where we can meet and get to know each other. This usually strengthens our community bonds and nurtures stronger relationships among members.”

The YGG Roadtrip is not limited to Baguio; it spans various locations across the Philippines. “Baguio is our second stop. Two weeks ago, we were in Batangas, and we had a series of legs planned – Batangas, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, and back to Manila. We aim to reach every corner of the Philippines,” Sir Bon added, highlighting the event’s nationwide read and impact.
The event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors including YGG Pilipinas, BreederDAO, coins.ph, DeLabs Games, Immutable, Zeeverse, EVERSEED, Arena Faith, Jambo, Parallel, Sipher Odyssey, Petopia, My Pet Hooligan, Axie Infinity, OP Games, AnotherWorld, 3KDS, Arena-Z, AyalaMalls, and Metaversity Workshop. It is also supported by DICT, further stressing the collaborative effort to bring web3 gaming closer to the Filipino community.
The YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip 2024 in Baguio has not only brought cutting-edge web3 gaming experiences to the local community but has also strengthened connections and solidarity among gamers and enthusiasts. With events like these, the boundaries between online and offline communities blur, creating a more exciting and inclusive gaming ecosystem in the Philippines. As the road trip continues its journey across the nation, it promises to ignite passion and curiosity for web3 technologies, paving the way for a more connected and tech-savvy future for all.
