The inaugural day of the Fresheeesh Tour 2023, an eagerly awaited occasion hosted at the University of Baguio, commenced with a momentous Grand ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 2, 2023, at 8:30 am.
Mr. Aaron Black, CEO of ZIP Travel Philippines, Dr. Janice Lonogan, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Froilan Aspa, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, attended the ceremony. The event started with an opening, the welcome speech of Dr. Froilan Aspa, and the ribbon cutting in front of the university’s main gate to officially open the FresheeeSH Tour for the university students.
All departments of the university have their booths to showcase the things they offer in that specific department. The booths also have to compete; to win, the students should get tickets to the OSA office, collect stamps from the booths, bring them back to the OSA office, and vote for the best booth. Some must pay to join the booth activity, and some are free.
On October 18, 2023, a symbolic walk called the MAGNA and KA-UBIANO organizations started the program. It was a bright show of school pride and unity. Dr. Froilan Aspa gave a moving welcome speech that set the tone for the day’s events. After the opening speech came the first round of the raffle. Some prizes included UB merchandise, an EDIPHI smartwatch, a dinner at Baguio Country Club, and food items from ZIP Travel Philippines.
The challenge, “Icons of the Eras,” made the show more fun. When Ms. Ely Lozano played Beyoncé so well, the School of Business Administration and Accountancy won first place. The second place went to the School of Nursing, whose representative was Mr. Joseph Victor Lumabe as Rihanna. Third place went to the School of Business Administration and Accountancy, whose Mr. Jeshuah Leigh Juan played Bruno Mars.
More exciting gifts were given away in the second round of the raffle. These included UB gear, an EDIPHI smartwatch, a PC Byte item, a free dinner at Baguio Country Club, an EDIPHI tablet, and overnight stays at The Manor Hotel and the Forest Lodge.
From Day 1 to the end of the event, awards were given to organizations, judges, and winners. The Overall Best Booths and the Students’ Choice Booths were given awards. The School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts won the collaborative category with the help of the Mediatrix Society, the Physical Fitness Society, the Society of Languages and Literature, and the General Education Organization. The School of Natural Sciences won the standalone category.
The Organization Marketing Video Competition showed how clever the students were. The School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts won first place, with the School of Information Technology coming in second and the School of Natural Sciences coming in third.
Sir Denver Soriano gave the program’s final words, and the UB Music Society released a captivating final show that left the audience with memories they will never forget.
The FresheeeSH Tour 2023 was a huge success. It was a great way to celebrate the start of the new school year with a mix of history, fun, and friendship. The University of Baguio is still working to make the school community lively and friendly, and the FresheeeSH Tour is still a source of unity and inspiration for students and staff.
